Who Qualifies for Our CDL Program
Start Your Next Chapter
Parker Promise Foundation helps eligible applicants access CDL training and career pathways toward long-term stability.
Section 1: Program Overview
Our CDL program is designed for individuals who are ready to pursue training, meet industry requirements, and build a stable future in transportation.
We welcome applicants who are committed to growth, accountability, and completing the program successfully.
Section 2: Basic Eligibility
You may qualify if you:
Are at least 18 years old
Have a valid driver’s license
Are legally authorized to work in the United States
Can complete a background and driving record review
Are committed to completing CDL training and pursuing employment
Section 3: Medical & DOT Requirements
All CDL drivers must meet DOT medical standards.
Applicants should be able to:
Pass a DOT physical exam
Meet vision and hearing standards
Safely operate a commercial vehicle
Provide additional medical documentation if needed
Note: Some health conditions may still qualify with proper treatment or clearance.
Section 4: Background Considerations
Parker Promise Foundation believes in second chances.
A criminal background does not automatically disqualify you. Each application is reviewed individually. Some offenses or travel restrictions may affect CDL eligibility or employment options.
If you are currently on probation or parole, you may still apply, but additional information will be required.
Section 5: Who We Prioritize
Priority may be given to applicants who:
Are single parents
Are reentering society after incarceration
Demonstrate financial need
Show commitment and readiness
Are motivated to build a long-term career
Section 6: Funding Requirements
Because Parker Promise Foundation operates as a payer of last resort, applicants must first apply for all eligible funding sources, including:
WIOA
HOPE Grant
Pell Grant
Other financial aid, if applicable
We provide gap funding for approved training-related costs not covered elsewhere.
